2022-23 Community Events Grants

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

  • The Community Event Grants Program provides grant funding to community organisations to enable the delivery of projects that benefit the whole of the city. Applications for projects that have a divisional or local focus should be submitted to other Grant Programs. Please see City of Gold Coast website for more details.  
  • Grant funding under this program may be awarded for events that align with the desired objectives and strategies identified within the City’s Corporate Plan, Gold Coast 2022 and that clearly demonstrate a benefit to the residents of the Gold Coast.
  • Applications for Community Event Grants are accepted and assessed on an ongoing basis however, please note that funding allocated may be exhausted prior the end of the financial year.
  • To be eligible to apply for grant funding, community organisations must be able to demonstrate that they are an entity that carries on an activity for a public purpose, or whose primary objective is not directed at making a profit.
  • Individuals, commercial businesses/companies or informal community organisations are not eligible to apply.

Before starting this application, please confirm that the community organisation: 

  • has reviewed the Community Grants Policy
  • meets the eligibility criteria as per the Community Grants Policy
  • is delivering an eligible event
  • is not receiving funding from another Council source for this event
  • has acquitted all previous grants provided by the City (if applicable)

In order to complete this application you will be required to upload

  • Evidence of the community organisation's legal status
  • A bank statement header for the community organisation's bank account (account name, BSB and account number must be visible. Copy of the transaction list is not required)
  • Evidence of event cost (quote, event budget etc)
  • A copy of the community organisation's Certificate of Currency (Public Liability Insurance)

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Eligible Applicants

  Applicants must:

  • be a community organisation;
  • operate within the Gold Coast;
  • have an adequate level of public liability insurance for the project (where appropriate);
  • not be an ineligible applicant (refer to webpage or policy for definition of an ineligible applicant).

Event Requirements

  Applicants must be able to:

  • demonstrate that the event is open to the public to attend;
  • demonstrate that the primary purpose of the event is a general community benefit and not to benefit the community organisation itself (e.g. an annual awards night would not be eligible for grant funding);
  • demonstrate that the event will benefit residents of the Gold Coast;
  • deliver the event within twelve months of grant approval.

Ineligible Events

  Events must not:

  • restrict members of the general public from attending the event;
  • be funded from other Council sources;
  • be used for repayment of a debt;
  • be for the sole purpose of fundraising for transfer to a third party;
  • have been delivered prior to remittance of funds.
