Introduction

Council-led projects

The Gold Coast is already home to a diverse and high-quality range of nature-based tourism experiences from rainforest trails and hinterland retreats to island escapes and wildlife encounters. These offerings provide a strong foundation, attracting visitors from around the world while connecting our local community with the region’s unique natural environment.

Building on this foundation, there is an opportunity to expand and diversify the City’s portfolio of sustainable, nature-based experiences. By doing so, we can create new ways for people to explore, relax and connect with nature, while continuing to protect and celebrate the Gold Coast’s environmental and cultural values.

To support this, the City of Gold Coast is seeking ideas from internal stakeholders for potential Council-led nature-based tourism opportunities. These opportunities may be located on selected areas of public land owned or managed by the City and should align with the principles of low-impact design, environmental stewardship, and community benefit.
